About Us

ARTCONNEKT, an artistic enterprise in Ontario.

The Artconnekt story begins in 2020, when the entire world is rocked by the Covid 19 pandemic.

Many families found themselves spending more time together and sharing more than usual.

This is when our founder feels the need to draw from her roots, from her culture, the strength she needs to go through.

She chose the “Wax fabric” she had worn since childhood and decided to create paintings and many other products with this piece of cotton.

Today, with Artconnekt, she shares and encourages artists from different cultures to bring their passion to schools and wherever the need is felt.

Art, my passion

My name is Karen Niaba. I grew up in Africa, surrounded by fabrics, colours and ethnic design. Passionate about art and culture, I share the history of the loincloth through my creations and workshops.

In 2018, I created Montser’Art with the mission to make art accessible to all: to offer Beauty, Chic and Pleasure to the eyes.
Over the years, I have been able to identify how much we and our children need to open up to other cultures to enjoy above all their wealth and the values they convey.

Montser’Art became Artconnekt because I want to propose art as a tool to value our diversity. By proposing collaborations with Canadian schools and organizations, I aim to offer new supports in art education.

To create and offer a platform for Aboriginal and immigrant cultures to connect and share their art.

With a team of volunteers of various profiles; art teachers, amateurs and students we develop workshops, turnkey kits for schools and organizations with which we collaborate.

In closing, I leave you with one of my thoughts, “Art has no boundaries… It is in the eyes of the child, it is in the smile of the soul!”

We work the "Wax fabric"

*Wax is a cotton fabric found in many colors and textures around the world. It has been adopted as the visual identity of black, African culture but its colors and weaving technique are of Asian origin. Imported by the Dutch, it is now offered to the world as one of the few media for intercultural and inter-activity connection.

Testimonials

Users, customers, teachers, parents … testify about our services

"Last February, my daughter and I participated in the art workshop organized by Artconnekt and it was a rich experience in learning and sharing. I learned more about "Wax fabric", but what I appreciated the most was the practical side of this workshop that allowed my daughter and I to work, to create, to innovate and to come out with a beautiful artistic work, something I could not imagine when I started the workshop. Thanks to the indications, with the help of KN we were able to realize a work of which we are proud of. In any case, these are workshops that we advise and recommend."

"I had the opportunity to receive an Artconnekt group kit with my students. As much as my students, I was very surprised by the amount of information, both cultural and historical, that the kits offered me. The history of the "Wax fabric" allowed us to show the students that you can build bridges between cultures simply from this piece of fabric! They were curious and delighted at the same time. I can't wait to find out what we receive this year."
